Plus tips on increasing your chances of winning while spending less. By the end of reading this article, you’ll be one step closer to becoming a millionaire! Good luck.

What do I need to know about the next EuroMillions Superdraw?

The next EuroMillions Superdraw has been announced for Friday 3rd March 2023. A guaranteed €130 million boosted jackpot is up for grabs! This will be the first EuroMillions Superdraw to take place this year. The last was on 2nd December 2022 with a whopping €130 million jackpot.

Here’s an overview of the Superdraw jackpots since 2009:

What is the difference between regular EuroMillions and EuroMillions Superdraw?

Put simply, the EuroMillions Superdraw replaces the regular scheduled EuroMillions but offers a much higher jackpot prize. A Superdraw always offers a guaranteed nine-figure prize. This is regardless of whether or not the top prize was won in the previous draw. These unique jackpots are rare with only a few Superdraws happening each year. Sometimes less, for example only a single Superdraw took place in 2016 and 2 in 2017 and 2018.

During the year, around 8.6% of the total revenue from all EuroMillions ticket sales is accumulated to fund Superdraw jackpots. The Superdraw jackpots continue to roll over until the prize is won, giving players more chances to win big!

Superdraws are announced a few weeks beforehand, sort of like an unexpected Christmas! So we’ll always give you plenty of warning when one is incoming. In the UK, 10-20 winners become millionaires each Superdraw! Could it be you this time?

How do I play the EuroMillions Superdraw and increase my chances of winning?

You play it just like your usual EuroMillions draw.Select 5 main numbers (between 1-50) and 2 star numbers (between 1-12) and then cross your fingers and toes! Covering more numbers is a sure-fire way to increase your chances of matching the winning combination.

At LottoSocial, we have multiple ways you can increase your chances of winning. Whether you’re playing your favourite lotteries or aiming big in a Superdraw. Join a LottoSocial syndicate, we’ll sort the logistics, you just need to focus on your lines! Find out more about joining a syndicate here. Or you can take advantage of our 10 lines for £1 offer. When playing through LottoSocial, you increase your chances of winning while spending less.

What times do the EuroMillions draws take place?

The EuroMillions draws happen twice a week on Tuesday and Friday at 20:00 GMT. When a Superdraw is announced it replaces a regular draw on one of these days. This means nothing changes for you, apart from playing for a much bigger jackpot! Don’t forget that on a draw day you need to purchase your lines before 19:30 GMT. All tickets purchased after this time will be entered into the next draw.

What is the history behind the EuroMillion Superdraws?

The first ever EuroMillions draw took place in February 2004. Originally the lottery only started in France, Spain and the United Kingdom. The EuroMillions is now played in 9 European countries. The first EuroMillions Superdraw took place on 9th February 2007. The prize was a huge €100 million and was won in its entirety by an anonymous Belgium player.

At LottoSocial, our customers are currently primarily based in the United Kingdom. But we’re excited to venture into the rest of Europe in 2022. Our syndicate and 10 lines for £1 will soon be available abroad.

One of the biggest Superdraw jackpots ever won was €190 million on 24th October 2014. A lucky ticket holder based in Portugal claimed this prize. A EuroMillions Superdraw rolled over 6 times to reach this jackpot!

Most winners of EuroMillion Superdraw jackpots have chosen to stay anonymous, but not all. Here are two who wanted to be on the record. Angela and Dave Dawes won a jackpot worth €117 million on 7th October in 2011. And Neil Trotter who won €124 million on 14th March 2014.

What are the most common winning Superdraw numbers?

The EuroMillions website has impressively in-depth stats on which numbers have come up the most. Have a look at the EuroMillions statistics.

Choosing lottery numbers is often a very personal experience for many people. From family or friends birthdays, to anniversary or graduations, to even house moves. For others, they spend hours studying lottery information and select the most frequent numbers. Everyone who plays the lottery does so with the aim of winning big. So it’s important to keep that in mind if you decide to purchase more lines. The more lines you have, the more numbers, the better your chances!

Lotto Has To Be Won Tonight!

Lotto Has To Be Won Tonight!

It’s been an eventful few weeks. The EuroMillions grew week on week. Friends, family, work colleagues and practically everyone discussed what they would do if they won the colossal jackpot.

It’s now Lotto’s turn! A jackpot of €24.8M rarely comes around in this lottery and the best part, it has to be won tonight!

We want to create a positive vibe around Lottery winners. Many winners have received bad press in recent years, and rightly so for some. Winners that go public tend to get a band reputation because of the things they blow their money on. Whether it’s splashing their new found wealth on gambling, fast cars or extravagant parties.

However, what about the people that do good with their money? There are a few people that do sensible and charitable deeds. So, we have compiled a list of exactly that just for you.

Denise and Paul Hardware invested in property

Denise and Paul Hardware-The Mirror

In 2007 Denise and Paul Hardware won €5M. They celebrated by taking a cruise which is fair enough! These big moments need to be enjoyed, besides it’s likely that it will not happen again for Denise and Paul. They also made very sensible decisions like paying off their mortgage, buying their affordable dream home in Somerset and funding their son’s degree. Great decisions!

Jim Dancy Donated to Charity

Charity

Jim Dancy decided to donate all of his winnings to charity when he won Michigan’s Lottery Club Keno game. Granted, it was €10,000 which in regards to other winners is not much at all. However, it is the thought that counts right? Many people win millions and don’t donate a penny to charity. So good on Jim! If Jim has got you in the mood to donate then why not check out our charities of the month here.

Les Robins Founded a Day Camp For Children

Day Camp

In 1993, Les Robins won the highest Powerball Jackpot at that time of $111M. Instead of keeping it all for himself, Les decided to donate a large portion of the winnings to build a day camp for children. Being a teacher most of his life probably had a big influence on his decision but still, what a wonderful gesture! Surely Les has to be Teacher of the century?

Louise White Got Financial Experts for Guidance

Louise White

Louise White also won big on the Powerball Lottery. Mrs White chose to take the lump sum of $210M instead of waiting for 30 years to claim the full jackpot. Rhode Island, (the State where Louise is from) does not allow winners to accept the prize anonymously. To counteract this measure, Louise created a trust fund to distance herself from the winnings. Pretty smart move huh? Louise also called the Trust after the flavour of sherbet she bought that led her to the shop of the winning ticket.

Well there you have it. Not all Lottery winners splash the cash and blow their millions. A few do great things and make their new found wealth improve the life of others. Remember, if you win. Be sensible, be wise and enjoy!

the 5 craziest ways lottery winners spent their fortune

The 5 Craziest Ways Lottery Winners Spent Their Fortune

We’ve put together a list of the 5 craziest ways lottery winners have spent their fortune. There are plenty of cliches about how lottery winners spend their money. Gigantic houses, flashy cars and round-the-world trips come to mind! However, not everyone who wins big has such plain tastes. It turns out that the spending patterns of many big jackpot winners were, shall we say… a little unusual. Let’s go!

Craziest winner 1: Jonathan Vargas created his own wrestling TV show

Winning the lottery jackpot

Jonathan Vargas was only 19 when his numbers came up in the US Powerball. His winnings totalled a staggering $35.3 million, and his initial plans for the money were surprisingly modest: invest most of it, buy a new house and generally just secure his future.

Jonathan ended up taking a different path. Combining his twin passions in life, wrestling and scantily-clad women, he created his own television show, “Wrestlicious Takedown”. The show was a strange mixture of all-female wrestling and comedy sketches.

With Vargas himself frequently making appearances under his rapper alias “JV Rich”. Far from being a wild success, the TV network decided to cancel Wrestlicious after one series. We must commend Jonathan, though – no one can say he didn’t follow his dreams!

Craziest winner 2: Tom Crist gave all of it away to charity

Tom Baker Lottery Winnings

Gifts and large philanthropic donations rank highly on statistics about how people spend their lottery winnings. However, it’s extremely rare to see someone opt to give ALL of their winnings away to charity. Yet this is exactly what Canadian Tom Crist did, who won $40 million on the Lotto Max draw in 2013.

I just retired at the end of September, so I was fortunate enough in my career to set myself up and my kids anyway, and there was no doubt in my mind where that money was going to go, it was going to go to charity.” – Tom Christ.

Craziest winner 3: Gloria Mackenzie fixed her childhood school’s roof

Lottery winners giving to charity

84-year-old Gloria MacKenzie won a jaw-dropping $590.5 million in the US Powerball. She chose to take the lump-sum payout of $278 million. She then wasted no time upgrading the small trailer she lived in to a 6000-odd foot luxury home.

Her next step was a little less conventional. Gloria made a $2m donation to Schenck High School, her local high school, which she attended as a child, and that her daughter was teaching at. She set the money aside to repair the school’s roof. It seems plenty of people are willing to give generously to others with no expectation of anything in return!

Craziest winner 4: Michael Carroll blew it all in spectacular fashion

Michael Carrol winning the lottery jackpot

Carroll, who goes by the nickname the “King of Chavs”, was only 19 when he won £9.7 million on the National Lottery in 2002. He did not even have a bank account set up at the time of his lottery win. In the 10 years that followed, Carroll managed to spend all of his winnings on lavish new purchases.

His national reputation as a “Lotto Lout” was stoked by the numerous occasions he ran into trouble with the law, receiving an ASBO and serving jail time in the years following his win. In 2010 he applied for his old job as a binman but didn’t get it.

He spoke about his current job at a biscuit factory: “I get £204 every week for packing and stacking shortbread and cookies, and I love it. I treasure those wages more than any £9 million fortune.” This cautionary tale shows that, for some, a massive lottery win can be more of a curse than a blessing!

Craziest winner 5: John Kutey build a water park

Winning the lottery with a lottery syndicate

John Kutey won a $28.7 million share of $319 million as part of a syndicate with work colleagues. Intending to give something back to his home city, he went to the village hall with his wife to work out how best to do just that. That’s how Kutey ended up donating $200,000 towards constructing a “Spray park” in Green Island, New York.

The Biggest Jackpots Ever!

Lotteries around the world have hit all-time highs, the EuroMillions, Lotto, Powerball & the MegaMillions, but which one claimed the throne for biggest jackpot in world lottery history?! Right here you’ll find out how high these jackpots climbed, and how there could potentially be an unclaimed billionaire (more on that later).

4 – Lotto: €66 Million, May 2016

For the Lotto, the biggest jackpot ever won was on Saturday 9th January 2016, where two UK ticket holders shared a massive €66M. The jackpot had 15 successive rollovers from Saturday 14th November 2015, before being scooped by David & Carol Martin from Hawick, Scotland and an anonymous player who had bought their ticket in Worcester – Both sharing €33M each.

For this win, the jackpot cap for the Lotto was set at €50M, with the jackpot cap being revised to €22M later in 2016. It’s quite unlikely that this kind of jackpot would never be able to be won again for the Lotto – Even luckier for the winner then eh?

3 – EuroMillions: €190 Million, August 2012

Suffolk, England was where the Bayford family scooped a €190M jackpot on Friday 10th August 2012. This is one of the joint biggest jackpots ever to be won in EuroMillions history. The winners claimed a jackpot that rolled-over, 14 times, after eventually reaching the jackpot cap.

The winners of this jackpot splashed the cash on luxury cars, helicopter flights & mansions! Living the life of luxury, that’s for sure.

Who won the other one? An anonymous player in Portugal claimed a similar €190M jackpot on Friday 24th October 2014. With the Superdraw held three weeks earlier, this jackpot eventually reached the jackpot cap after rolling 5 times.

2 – Powerball: $1.58 Billion, January 2016

Won on January 13th, 2016, winning tickets were claimed in California, Florida and Tennessee, with each ticket worth at least $528.8 million.

The California winners opted to stay anonymous and did not wish to become public figures, with the wish of designating most of their winnings to charity.

They said: “We are thankful and blessed for the rare gift that has been placed in our care. We have engaged a team of advisors to educate and guide us through this process so that we can be good stewards of these new resources.”

1 – The biggest in world lottery, MegaMillions: $1.59 Billion, October 2018

The biggest world lottery jackpot of all time is yet to be claimed! Yep, you read that right! The MegaMillions reached an all-time high of $1.59 Billion in October 2018! The winning ticket was purchased in South Carolina, matching all 6 numbers on Tuesday night.

But! And this is a big but, the winner has yet to claim this colossal jackpot! Time is certainly running out for this winner to step forward, with the deadline being on April 2019.

The $1.59 billion jackpot would be paid over 30 years, or alternatively an upfront sum of $878 million. This would mean that the state will lose out on $61 million in income taxes, usually paid by the winner.

There you have it, the highest jackpots in world lottery, with an unannounced billionaire yet to step forward!

1 in 5 jackpots are won by lottery syndicates! So the next time these lotteries hit all-time highs, be sure to join our ready-made syndicates to ensure you are always in the draw, and increase your chances to win such huge jackpots, right here at Lotto Social.
